Sidival Fila was born in Brazil on the 25th November 1962 in the state of Paranà. He has had an interest in plastic art and painting since he was a teenager.
Notwithstanding his deep attraction for the thirteenth century and medieval painting, likewise renaissance and baroque, he felt personally attracted by modern art: from impressionism to cubism. This phase lasted several years and saw the production of many works influenced by this style.
Sidival moved to Italy in 1985 in order to live in the cultural setting that has generated so many and different schools of painting and sculpture.
After 5 years from his arrival and following an intense call for religious life, he left all his personal projects and joined the religious family of the Friars Minor of Francesco of Assisi. In 1999 he received the priesthood in Rome where he served his ministry at the hospital “Policlinico Agostino Gemelli”; he did some volunteer work in a prison. Later on he was moved to the friary in Vitorchiano and he’s currently
in Frascati in charge of the new friars’ formation.
He has not painted for a long time, approximately 18 years.
It was only through little works of restoration that he progressively came back to the world of art. He began to paint a couple of years ago.
Under the influence of “Action Painting” and the informal European art,
he gave life to a new and more personal artistic journey.
In 2006 he had his first exhibition in the cloister of the San Bonaventure Friary in Frascati.
Sidival carries on his production towards his next exhibition and the publishing of his first monography edited by Dott. Mario Bertin, editor of Città Aperta, and the graphic designer Rinaldo Cutini.
